Due to the highly contagious nature of COVID-19, its tricky symptoms, the need to maintain 6-foot distance from others to stay safe (and the impossibility to do so in our especially-cozy sanctuary), and COVID-19’s particular danger to older and health-compromised folks, all activity at the church is canceled while shelter-in-place orders are active.
Music Ministries- Making a Joyful Noise
The choir of the United Methodist Church of Palm Springs has been an integral part of the life of the church since its founding in 1965. It is a volunteer group composed of 20 to 30 members of the congregation. They provide meaningful special music for the services of the church every Sunday. During the Easter and Advent seasons, the group puts in many hours of extra rehearsals to present a Cantata or musical service as a special service for the congregation. It's not about making a beautiful sound; it's about making a joyful noise.
Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 7:15 pm in the church atrium. No auditions necessary to join!
The bell choir is directed by Dr. Ed Hartman and consists of thirteen ringers who ring five octaves of handbells. They perform classical and sacred music. They rehearse every Wednesday evening at 7:15 pm from late September to mid-May and perform about once a month at the Sunday morning worship service during that time period.
If you are interested in being a member of this group, please contact Ed Hartman at 760-325-6298, No bell ringing experience is necessary but some music reading skill is desired.
