DESCRIPTION: Helping us (in partnership with Desert Composting) to establish the first community composting site in Palm Springs. Weighing tubs of organic waste, Watering compost bin, Recording weights and temperatures on a paper log sheet, adding manure, organic waste and mulch, Washing tools and tubs.

TIME-FRAME: 7 AM on Wednesday.

Welcome worshipers at door and/or the Welcome Table, provide name tags

Ushers: Help worshipers find a seat, collect offering

Communion Servers: Offer bread or cup. (We will provide training.)

Help Decorate Sanctuary for major holidays

DESCRIPTION: Help prepare and serve food, find clothing that fits, offer free toiletries and books, provide a loving and dignified atmosphere.

TIME-FRAME: Sunday and Friday breakfast served 7-8 a.m. This is when we most need volunteers, starting at 6:15 am either morning, with clean up after. (There is also a Saturday noon meal; if that is your best time, we can add you into rotation.)

DESCRIPTION: Choral singing, instrumental performance, small vocal ensembles, soloists, and praise band make up the multiple facets of this unique ministry — and God is in the center of it all! ALL ARE WELCOME! You don’t need to be a pro!

TIME-FRAME: Varies, but each group has a regular rehearsal through the year. Choir meets Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.

DESCRIPTION: Deepen your involvement at UMCPS by becoming a member. God likes it when you join the church and you can vote at meetings! Pastor Jane has a no-pressure new member exploration session every quarter to learn about the church and eat her favorite food--pizza. You don't need to attend a session to join the church. Just let us know that you are interested.

TIME-Frame: Next session is December 3 after worship but you can join at any time.

DESCRIPTION: Help elementary students at Agua Caliente Elementary School with their reading skills. You receive training and work closely with the teacher whose students you work with.
