PSUMC’s Music Ministry offers a wide variety of opportunities for you to find a place where you can share your gifts. Choral singing, instrumental performance, bell choir, small vocal ensembles, soloists, praise band, audio/video operation, behind-the-scenes work, writing, photography, and prayer make up the many facets of this unique ministry — and God is in the center of it all! There is always an open invitation for everyone who has a gift to share!

Under the direction of Dr. Wayne Hinton, Music Director, the Chancel Choir leads worship during the year at the traditional service. Our members — ages high school to 90 — perform a variety of church choral repertoire including beautiful hymn arrangements, classical style anthems, spirituals and more, all with powerful messages and moving melodies. Rehearsals are on Thursdays from 5:30 – 7:00pm. Bring your love of singing and join us: no audition is necessary!

Seasonal choirs are for those singers who prefer an excellent short-term choir experience, instead of a September to June schedule. They consist of church members, non-members, singers from other churches, and anyone in the community, ages 14 - 90! The “Yuletide” Christmas choir rehearses for 10 weeks, and participates in our Yuletide Christmas program. Our "Holy Week" Easter choir rehearses for 8 weeks, and sings for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Easter services. Both choirs meet on Thursdays from 5:30-7:00pm, under the direction of Wayne Hinton. What a great way to reach out to others and share God's Word through music!

Can you count to ten? Love to keep a rhythm going with your feet? UMCPS Ringers may be the place for you! Our multi-octave handbell set has plenty of room for more players, and we welcome anyone — whether you’ve ever picked up a handbell or not! Under the direction of Dr. Ed Hartman, the UMCPS Ringers perform from September to May and rehearse Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm.

The A/V service is an integral part of our ministry. These wonderful volunteer operators help us communicate God’s Word through sound and screen each week. We sing, ring, play instruments, and share God’s Message through music, and these people help make that happen! Help bring the Word of God to others and be a part of this powerful way of serving!

You can hear individual and group performances during Sunday morning services and before worship. If you sing or play any kind of instrument — piano, strings, acoustic guitar, brass, wood winds, organ, and more — you are encouraged to share your musical gifts before and during worship for both services, and also occasionally with the choirs! You can also use your special performance as a chance to invite new friends to visit our family here at UMCPS!
